16 August: Dingle to Doolin
Our next overnight stop was Doolin, on the west coast. From Dingle to Doolin doesn't look too far on the map, but it was a very slow trip. Not helped by making a wrong turn in Tralee and getting stuck in a traffic jam for half an hour. Where do all these cars come from?
At Tarbert we had to wait for the car ferry which took us to the north side of the Shannon estuary, from where it was a short but slow drive in to Doolin. We finally arrived at 21:30.
By then dinner was off at every cafe in town except (of course) the most expensive restaurant. They duly accommodated us, and we paid for the privelige. The place was called the Lazy Lobster, but the waiter was straight from Fawlty Towers - not Basil, but Manuel. :)
